Through the Maze is our handbook for parents of children with special needs in Brighton & Hove. It includes advice about education, health, benefits, leisure and social services. Through the Next Maze, focuses on the same issues for children age 14 plus. Helping Children Bounce Back translates resilience research into a book of practical ideas that parents can use every day.

Through the Maze

Through the Maze is an information handbook for parents of children with special needs aged 0-14 in Brighton & Hove, originally written by parents and updated regularly. The last update was January 2011 and this latest version includes the latest information and advice on education, health services, financial benefits and leisure opportunities.

You can get a copy free from us if you are parent of child with special needs living or going to school in Brighton and Hove. We also give free copies to professionals working with children with special needs in the area.

Anyone else who would like a copy can purchase one from us for £9.99.

Through the Next Maze

Through the Next Maze is about the transition years for parents of young people with special needs (age 14 plus) in Brighton & Hove. It was written with parents and young disabled people, and is regularly updated. The latest version was updated in August 2011. Through the Next Maze is distributed via schools to the parents of all young people with a Statement in Year 9.

You can get a free copy if your child is aged 14+ and has a Statement or call our helpline if you are parent carer living in Brighton and Hove and really think you need one.

As part of our resilience work with the University of Brighton, this was produced by our partners at Experience in Mind, Mind Brighton and Hove and Sussex Central YMCA. It was put together by young people and is useful if you're at all worried about your child's mental health
