Help with DLA claims

If you want to make a claim for Disability Living Allowance, Amaze can offer you advice and practical support.

Telephone advice

If you call our helpline number on 01273 772289, we can give you information about where to get the claim forms, what sort of details you might need to include and how long you can expect the process to take.

Factsheets

We also have a handy factsheet called Tips for claiming Disability Living Allowance and detailed page by page notes of the sorts of things other parents have found useful to include.

One to one support

Even with lots of advice, and a good friend, we know it can still be hard to put pen to paper. If you feel really stuck, we may be able to offer you individual help. We have a small team of volunteers who can make home visits and help you think through how to make a strong case. And if you find that writing stuff down is hard, that's OK too - our volunteers are happy to fill the forms in. But please be aware that this service is only available in school term time. Ring our helpline to ask for one to one help.

Energy audits

Thanks to a grant from Scottish Power Energy People Trust, we have recently been able to extend our one-to-one DLA work to include an energy audit and advice about energy efficiency measures. We are also able to signpost families to grants and debt advice.

Our energy efficiency work is focused on helping parent/carers to identify what they can do to make their homes more affordable to run and to help pull families out of fuel poverty.

Volunteering

Amaze always needs more volunteers. Find out how you can help other parents make successful claims.
