How can Amaze help?
Resources
Amaze has a dedicated Transition Development Worker who provides information about all aspects of Transition Planning and regularly attends the national Transition Information Network. This is a way of finding out about good practice and information nationally, and influencing what's going on at a local level regarding Transition Planning, for example, introducing Person Centred Transition Review to schools in Brighton and Hove.
Parents with Teens group
Amaze runs a group for parents of teenagers with special needs. Check out our calendar of events for forthcoming dates. They meet every two months to share information and experiences. Issues parents want raised are taken back to Brighton and Hove's Transition Forum and the Learning Disability Partnership Board. Parents of teenagers with special needs are representatives on the Forum and the Partnership Board.
Transition Information Sessions
Regular Transition Information sessions are offered to parents to help them prepare for the Annual Review in Year 9 when Transition Planning formally begins. Check out our calendar of events for future information sessions
Publications
We publish 'Through the Next Maze', a parent's guide to the transition years. Contact us for a copy. We also produce a number of factsheets that may be useful, particularly 'Involving young people in decisions about their lives'. Download it here or go to Publications for other factsheets.
