What we do
Amaze is a one-stop shop offering information, advice and support for parents of children with special needs.
Our telephone helpline is an information and advice line for parents who would like to speak to someone who has an understanding of their situation.
We also produce a range of publications for parents who like their information on paper. This includes handbooks, factsheets and our termly newsletter, Out of Amaze.
Our education casework provides parents with one to one advice and support on education issues, including access to Independent Parental Supporters.
We also offer specialist advice and help with making DLA claims, ranging from a factsheet to telephone advice to individual help with completing the forms.
If your child is under 20 years old and has a disability, special educational need or illness that significantly affects daily living, you can apply for a free Compass Card which gives cut-price leisure across the city. The card's linked to the Compass database.
Our Transition Planning work provides information and training for parents and professionals to help make the move into adulthood smooth and positive for disabled young people.
We get involved in consultation and development work to enable parents' voices to be heard by policy makers and service providers, locally and nationally.
We run training and support and groups and information sessions for both parents and professionals.
ART provides training, research and advice locally, regionally and nationally.
Finally, the Parent Carers' Council is a city-wide group of parent carers that works to improve local services, supported by Amaze.
