Transition Planning

Amaze provides parents and professionals with information and training so they can help disabled young people make a smooth and positive move into adulthood.

Transition Development Worker

Amaze has a dedicated Transition Development Worker. As well as providing further information about all aspects of Transition Planning she keeps in touch with what's happening at a national level through the Transition Information Network. This is a way of finding out about good practice and information nationally, and influencing what's going on at a local level regarding Transition Planning, for example introducing Person Centred Transition Review Meetings to schools in Brighton & Hove.

Parents with Teenagers group

The Transition Development Worker coordinates a group for parents of teenagers with special needs. They meet every two months to share information and experiences. Issues parents want raised are taken back to Brighton and Hove's Transition Forum and the Learning Disability Partnership Board. Parents of teenagers with special needs are representatives on the Forum and the Partnership Board. For details of the next Parents with Teens meeting see our calendar of events.

Transition information sessions

Amaze offers regular Transition Information sessions to parents to help them prepare for the Annual Review in Year 9 when Transition Planning formally begins.

Through the Next Maze

Amaze produces a handbook full of information and advice for parents of young people aged 14+ called Through the Next Maze.
